Darling Harbour, Pyrmont, Cocklebay Wharf- I love these areas and the inevitably sublime shopping, food and wine on offer. My friend Anna and I had a day in Sydney before our training tomorrow and boy did we have fun!! We breakfasted at our motel before setting off from Pyrmont to The Rocks for the Saturday Markets.

We had coffee at the Guylian Cafe before walking back through and stopping for amazing sushi on the way. We walked around to Harbourside admiring all the new eaterys and smelling the smells of yummy food before trekking to The Star for a spot of window shopping and a fair amount of slobbering at Adriano Zumbos (we resisted!!).

We walked for about two hours all up and had the best time! Dinner at Meat and Wine Co- a beef kebab amazingly presented- and a hot chocolate later, the fireworks at Darling Harbour illuminated the night as we braved our way back in the cold.

Below is what I wore tonight- a navy Jacqui-E long tunic top with a gorgeous cut and slit/ cowl neck, teamed with a Ally belt, Jeanswest printed jacquard skinny jeans, kmart flats (they are my faves, so darn comfy) and I wore my linen lapel Carla Zampatti six button blazer on top.

Tomorrow is training then cocktails out at night… Squeeee!

The before shot!

The before shot!

While in Sydney town for a work conference recently, I sprang at the chance to go shopping at somewhere that isn’t Country Target ( as much as I love and use Target lots- mainly out of necessity). So after staring lifelessly at a  trainer all day, the hour long lunch break was upon us and myself and my co worker sprang into action, leaping desperately for the door and sweet freedom.

It was a short walk to Events, the factory outlet at Alexandria and boy I’m glad we careered in. My friend bought a gorgeous sea green scoop neck bias cut dress that made her look like a goddess, and I got a $25 dress. Hooray!

This piece was a great grey and white lace dress- the white lace was an overlay, transforming that drab piece of workwear into something a little bit spesh. Unfortunately the overlay only came to about an inch and a half above the hem, so there was this grey strip that threw the whole look out; focus was immediately on the grey strip and not the amazing cut of the overlay.

I asked the nice sales lady how much she’d sell the dress for as it was in the seconds/ samples rack, and the answer was $25 (she was a VERY nice sales lady). For that I could justify buying and altering the dress to my preference, so I snapped it up.

Here is a before pic, I’m just about to finish hemming the lining up after fixing the hem up. Turns out lace overlay is a hard thing to hem to and the whole process was trickier than I thought. However I do have more training next month so I get to swoosh in (well, sashay in then) with my lovely altered dress so it’s not all bad.

Stay posted on the altered result, coming soon..
